Adult Protective Services
Adult Protective Services is a program committed to providing support and service co-ordination to adults who have a developmental disability. The program's philosophy is based upon the belief that quality of life is protected and enhanced when one is valued and respected and has opportunities to develop positive relationships within a community that is inclusive of all its members.
Areas of assistance may include:
- supporting individuals to speak on their own behalf
- promoting and negotiating the individual's access to services and supports as directed by the individual
- short and long-term planning to address current and anticipated needs
- supportive counselling
Adult Protective Services is a voluntary service and provides support dependent upon the consent and wishes of the individual.
Services are offered in the counties of Hastings and Prince Edward.
The Adult Protective Services Program is funded by the Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
