The Applied Behaviour Analysis Program (ABA) is a clinically supervised program that used the principles of learning and behaviour to provide support to children and youth between the ages of 2 – 17 who have a diagnosis of Autism.  The program focuses on four key areas; behavioural/emotional regulation, social skills, communication skills and activities of daily living.

Parents and caregivers meet with ABA therapists to discuss their child’s needs, determine areas of focus for their child’s skill development and develop a plan for their child’s services.  Children and youth attend weekly groups for 8 weeks and the curriculum is focused on individualized needs and goals.  Individual consultation and follow up will occur with each family.

Parent and caregiver involvement and education is a key component of ABA.  Parents learn strategies for teaching that will enhance their child’s learning and assist to maintain skills over time and across settings.

The program is a part of the South East Region Autism Services and is a partnership between Pathways for Children and Youth, Lanark Community Programs and Counselling Services of Belleville and District.

Services are offered in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

The Applied Behaviour Analysis Program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services.
