Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services is a program committed to providing support and service co-ordination to adults who have a developmental disability. Adults must have been deemed eligible by Development Services Ontario South East Region (DSO SER). The program's philosophy is based upon the belief that quality of life is protected and enhanced when one is valued and respected and has opportunities to develop positive relationships within a community that is inclusive of all its members.
Areas of assistance may include:
- Supporting participants to speak on their own behalf
- Promoting and negotiating the participant's access to services and supports as directed by the participant
- Short and long-term planning to address current and anticipated needs
Adult Protective Services is a voluntary service and provides support with consent and based on the wishes of the participant.
Services are offered in Hastings and Prince Edward counties, and parts of Lennox and Addington.
The Adult Protective Services Program is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.
