Supervised Access Services
When families separate or divorce, there are times when the parenting time between parents and children, or the exchange of children between parents must be supervised.
Supervised Access Services provides a safe, neutral and supportive environment for either an exchange of children between parents, or a supervised parenting time to take place. Parenting times take place under the supervision of trained staff and factual notes are taken.
Service sites are located in Belleville and Picton. Any individual or family member wishing assistance is encouraged to call. Voluntary referrals are only appropriate when the parties consent to the service. Referrals are also received from the Courts, lawyers representing the parents or the children’s lawyers. All referrals are accepted on a first come first served basis. If space is not available, families are placed on a waiting list. All parenting times and intake interviews are prearranged by the service. Intake interviews can be scheduled at times outside of regular office hours to accommodate an individual’s work schedule.
There is a nominal fee per parenting time. For a fee we can provide the court or lawyers with reports of factual observations about the participant’s use of the service.
Services are offered in the counties of Hastings and Prince Edward. In our Belleville space, parenting times can be scheduled from:
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 9:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Friday and Sunday: 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Saturdays: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Supervised Access receives funding from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.
